About the position
The Civil Engineer position at Brazos County involves performing engineering and project management functions for roadway, bridge, and drainage projects. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and county laws and involves frequent interaction with governmental officials and private entities. The engineer will be responsible for the technical design of civil engineering projects from planning through completion, overseeing construction projects, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical design of civil engineering projects from planning through completion.
- Design and oversee construction projects of county roads, bridges, and county building projects.
- Review and perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
- Write reports and create displays/exhibits.
- Review subdivision plats, designs, and engineering reports.
- Develop and manage project schedules.
- Assist the County Engineer and Operations Manager with project management.
- Communicate effectively with various County staff, external agencies, and the general public.
- Perform other duties as required or requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in roadway planning, design, or construction.
- Experience in roadway design and site development, preparation of specifications, bidding documents, and estimating projects.
- Experience with roadway and site construction inspection.
- Proficiency in computer applications like AutoCAD, Office Suite, etc.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate, detailed records.
- Class C Driver's License.
