About the position

As a Civil Engineer at Urban, you will be responsible for providing civil engineering design services in support of the firm's national Site/Land Development practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects located nationwide, including design and permitting support for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional development; rail and transportation facilities; green space, parks, and multi-use trails; roadways and highways; and municipal infrastructure. You will engage in civil engineering design for site/land development projects, which encompasses site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, erosion and sediment controls, and permitting. In addition to design responsibilities, you will provide construction phase services, which include reviewing shop drawings and submittals for the construction phases of projects. You will also be tasked with preparing technical reports and presentations, which are essential for communicating project details and progress. The role requires you to be able to travel and perform limited field work in support of engineering projects, ensuring that you can oversee and assist in the practical aspects of the designs you create. Organizing and managing your own workload is crucial, as you will need to meet budget and schedule deadlines while collaborating with team members across the design and engineering field. Responsibilities

  • Civil engineering design for site/land development projects including site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, erosion and sediment controls, and permitting.
  • Provide construction phase services in review of shop drawings and submittals for the construction phases of projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Travel and perform limited field work in support of engineering projects.
  • Organize and manage own workload and meet budget and schedule deadlines.

Requirements

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States or an Engineering in Training (EIT) with ability to sit for PE within a year is preferred, but not required.
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Computer Skills - AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)/MicroStation or similar CAD platform, HydroCAD/StormCAD/Hydraflow Hydrographs or similar stormwater modeling platform, Microsoft Office.
  • Strong listening, writing, and verbal communication skills.
