About the position

The Water Quality Protection team is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support the Water Quality Engineering & Planning program. This program is crucial for implementing water quality protection ordinances through comprehensive plan reviews and inspections for new developments and dredging projects in the Highland Lakes region. The role is significant as it contributes to the protection of the water supply for over a million residents in Central Texas. The mission of the team is to enhance the quality of life in the region, with a strong emphasis on safety and service. In this position, you will be entrusted with providing expert-level mentorship regarding the technical requirements of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA)'s watershed and dredging ordinances to both staff and customers. You will coordinate technical reviews to ensure that projects comply with LCRA rules and are permitted efficiently. Additionally, you will interpret engineering drawings and manufacturer specifications related to structural and non-structural best management practices. Collaboration with staff and customers on stormwater management and permitting issues will also be a key aspect of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level mentorship on the technical requirements of LCRA's watershed and dredging ordinances to staff and customers.
  • Coordinate technical reviews that ensure projects achieve compliance with LCRA rules and are permitted in a timely manner.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturer specifications for structural and non-structural best management practices.
  • Collaborate and interact with staff and customers on stormwater management and permitting issues.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
  • Eight or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience in the relevant area of engineering specialization.
  • Experience providing technical leadership in engineering.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct experience in the review or design of permanent water quality measures.
  • Experience with erosion and sedimentation control and grading plans.
