About the position

Kimley-Horn's West Palm Beach, Florida office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Surface Water team. This position is not remote and requires a dedicated professional who is ready to engage in various phases of civil engineering projects. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities across the design, bidding, and construction phases of projects, ensuring that all aspects are handled with precision and expertise. During the design phase, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for conducting constructability reviews, developing design schedules, determining contract time, coordinating with franchise utilities, and preparing opinions of probable construction costs. Additionally, the engineer will be involved in the development of specifications and bid packages, including the competitive sealed proposal method, as well as designing temporary traffic control measures and planning construction phasing. In the bidding phase, the responsibilities will include scheduling and coordinating bids, advertising projects, leading pre-bid meetings, managing addendum coordination and distribution, performing bid tabulations, conducting contractor reference checks, and making recommendations for contract awards. The construction phase will require the engineer to manage construction schedules, review contractor schedules, facilitate progress meetings, conduct submittal reviews, perform construction inspections and observations, review pay applications, handle change orders, conduct time impact analyses, and ensure thorough project closeout and documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or the ability to obtain one within 12 months, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. A positive attitude, self-motivation, and a sense of urgency to produce high-quality work are essential. The candidate should also be capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines, with an entrepreneurial spirit and the potential to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.

Responsibilities
