Responsibilities

  • Participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer (Hydraulic).
  • Examine and assess encroachment permit applications and erosion and sedimentation control plans.
  • Perform engineering evaluations of permit applications using hydraulic and hydrologic analysis techniques.
  • Provide technical support to the Conservation District in reviewing erosion and sedimentation control plans for construction projects.
  • Address complaints regarding dams, stream encroachments, water obstructions, and wetlands, making jurisdictional determinations.

Requirements

  • Four years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field with major coursework in civil engineering.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training including possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hydrology and hydraulics analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of the Dam Safety and Encroachments Act and the Flood Plain Management Act.
