About the position

AECOM is seeking a talented Civil Engineer - Transit & Rail to join our World Class Rail Team in Boston, MA. In this role, you will serve as a technical resource and be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering complex passenger rail and transit facilities. This includes working on projects related to bus systems, track, structures, tunnels, stations, and potentially maintenance and storage facilities, as well as capacity expansion initiatives. As a Civil Engineer, you will provide specialized technical input to studies and designs, ensuring that the work produced is of high quality and cost-effective. You will be involved in developing study and design procedures that facilitate efficient workflows for your colleagues. Participation in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables will be a key part of your responsibilities, allowing you to collaborate with various teams to ensure project success. Your role will also include developing construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects, utilizing your expertise in completing the discipline component of the Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) package. Quality control will be a significant aspect of your work, as you will review design calculations and drawings, as well as prepare technical specification sections. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements, ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with client expectations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Use expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings and prepare technical specification sections.
  • Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Civil Engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE (Professional Engineer) license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of start.
