About the position

Kimley-Horn's Seattle, Washington office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Transit team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the production and delivery of transit design projects, with a particular emphasis on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects. This position involves a variety of tasks, including corridor concept development, assisting in public outreach, and conducting transit evaluations. The role requires a high degree of multi-disciplinary coordination, making strong communication and organizational skills essential for success in this position. As a Civil Engineer on the Transit team, you will be expected to contribute to various aspects of transit design, ensuring that projects meet the needs of clients and the community. You will work closely with other team members and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that enhance transit systems. Your ability to balance priorities among multiple projects will be critical, as you will be managing various tasks simultaneously while maintaining a focus on quality and client satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the production and delivery of transit design projects, focusing on BRT and LRT.
  • Assist in corridor concept development and public outreach efforts.

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project success.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • 4+ years of transit-focused engineering experience, particularly in BRT and LRT modes.
  • Experience in transit corridor design, track/guideway design, roadway design, and station design including park-and-ride facilities.
  • High level of proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
