About the position

Join the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) engineering team and help shape the future of the State of Wisconsin's transportation infrastructure! WisDOT is recruiting to fill multiple Senior level Civil Engineer Transportation positions located in the Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) offices throughout the State. This is a continuous recruitment, and applications will be reviewed biweekly. Positions are available in various regions including Southeast (SE) in Waukesha, Southwest (SW) in LaCrosse or Madison, Northwest (NW) in Superior, Eau Claire, and Spooner, North Central (NC) in Rhinelander and Wisconsin Rapids, Northeast (NE) in Green Bay, and Central Office Bureau positions in Madison or Milwaukee. As a Civil Engineer Transportation Senior, you will be responsible for performing professional engineering senior level duties and applying engineering expertise for multi-modal transportation programs. You will work in one of the department's engineering program areas that may include design, construction, utilities, soils, planning, traffic, and maintenance of transportation facilities. Under general supervision, this position performs independently and has extensive authority in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Work at this level requires a high degree of interpretation and creativity in evaluating and carrying out engineering assignments. Responsibilities

  • Perform professional engineering senior level duties for multi-modal transportation programs.
  • Work in various engineering program areas including design, construction, utilities, soils, planning, traffic, and maintenance of transportation facilities.
  • Independently carry out assigned responsibilities with extensive authority.
  • Evaluate and carry out engineering assignments requiring a high degree of interpretation and creativity.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university with a 4-year bachelor's degree (or Master's or Ph.D.) in engineering OR possess a PE license (registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin OR a valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state).
  • At least 4 years of engineering experience after receiving their engineering degree from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university.
