About the position

Kimley-Horn's Fort Lauderdale office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Transportation Planning and Traffic team. This role involves traffic engineering and project management tasks, focusing on a variety of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects. The position emphasizes entrepreneurial spirit, project profitability, and significant contributions to marketing and business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering and project management tasks for diverse transportation projects.
  • Create a vision for growth in personal practice while contributing to the transportation engineering practice.
  • Manage projects profitably and engage in hands-on practice and delivery of projects.
  • Transition work to qualified staff and act as a positive leader and mentor.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development efforts, pursuing personal passions and client leads.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in transportation planning, traffic engineering and design, traffic operations, and/or ITS planning and design.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Proficiency in Synchro, HCS, and/or Vissim software applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and balance priorities among multiple projects.
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff effectively.
  • Experience in business development and marketing, including writing proposals and developing scopes of work.
