About the position

The District 10-0 of the Department of Transportation Engineering is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer specializing in Transportation to join its Traffic Unit. This position is ideal for individuals who are committed, possess a cheerful disposition, exhibit strong organizational skills, and have a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting various traffic-related initiatives that encompass design, maintenance, construction, and associated programs. This role involves a variety of tasks including reviewing design plans, preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates, executing engineering and traffic studies, assessing traffic patterns, conducting safety assessments, and engaging in other relevant activities that align with the established Business Plan Goals and Objectives. In this full-time position, the work schedule is from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break. There is an opportunity for part-time telework, provided that the employee has a securely configured high-speed internet connection and works from an approved location within Pennsylvania. If teleworking is not feasible, the employee will report to the headquarters office located in Indiana, Pennsylvania. The starting salary for this position ranges from $67,678.00 to $88,235.00 annually, although in some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Responsibilities

  • Support various traffic-related initiatives encompassing design, maintenance, construction, and associated programs.
  • Review design plans and prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Execute engineering and traffic studies to assess traffic patterns.
  • Conduct safety assessments related to traffic management.
  • Engage in activities that align with the established Business Plan Goals and Objectives.

Requirements

  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title).
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
