About the position

The City of Greeley is seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Engineer II/III to join our Engineering division within the Water and Sewer Department. This position is crucial for the planning, analysis, rehabilitation, and construction of the City’s water infrastructure. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of activities that include water system analysis, project management, and decision-making related to the expansion and replacement of the City’s water infrastructure. This role will involve leading projects focused on pipeline infrastructure, pump stations, and treated water reservoirs, while also assisting in the management of capital improvement projects (CIP) alongside the Engineering teams. As a Civil Engineer II/III, you will be responsible for managing simple to intermediate water distribution and transmission projects concurrently. Your responsibilities will encompass the planning, budgeting, permitting, design, and construction phases of the City’s water distribution systems. You will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of essential water infrastructure that serves the community of Greeley. Responsibilities

  • Perform water system analysis and planning for infrastructure projects.
  • Lead projects related to pipeline infrastructure, pump stations, and treated water reservoirs.
  • Assist in the management of capital improvement projects (CIP).
  • Manage simple to intermediate water distribution and transmission projects concurrently.
  • Oversee the planning, budgeting, permitting, design, and construction of water distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience in water system analysis and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD and other engineering design software.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to water infrastructure.
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent).
