About the position

Kimley-Horn's Denver, Colorado office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Water/Wastewater team. This position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the design and management of water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and water treatment systems. The successful candidate will engage in water/wastewater distribution planning, master planning, and the rehabilitation and expansion of treatment plants. In this role, you will manage project tasks, oversee project design and permitting, and coordinate construction activities while providing regular communication and guidance to less experienced staff. Collaboration is key, as you will work with a multidisciplinary team and external clients to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects. Maintaining a high degree of quality in the plans produced and checking the work of others will be essential. You will also be responsible for creating work plans, adhering to client budgets, and demonstrating strong project management skills. Additionally, you will attend meetings and communicate with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all regulations and requirements related to the projects. Monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules will be part of your daily activities. Responsibilities

  • Designing water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and water treatment systems.
  • Managing project tasks, project design and permitting, and construction coordination.
  • Providing regular communication and guidance with less experienced staff.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and external clients to contribute to the successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Maintaining a high degree of quality in sets of plans and checking the work of others.
  • Creating work plans and adhering to the budget set by the client while performing strong project management.
  • Attending meetings and communicating with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies to fulfill regulations and requirements.
  • Monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Relevant municipal engineering experience including designing pump stations, pipelines, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience performing hydraulic modeling using programs such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and a sense of urgency to produce high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.
