About the position

The Civil Engineer position in Harrison, Indiana, is a permanent role focused on completing construction projects through comprehensive engineering design and documentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing engineering designs and ensuring that all specifications are met throughout the construction process. This includes studying project concepts, architectural drawings, and models to create effective designs that meet project requirements. The role requires a thorough understanding of various engineering principles and practices, as well as the ability to analyze and interpret complex data related to soil composition, terrain, and hydrological characteristics. In addition to design responsibilities, the Civil Engineer will determine project costs by calculating labor, materials, and other related expenses. They will conduct feasibility studies by analyzing engineering designs and performing environmental impact assessments. The engineer will also produce essential engineering documents, including construction specifications, plans, and schedules, while ensuring adherence to safety standards and construction specifications by monitoring project progress and inspecting construction sites. The role also involves training and guiding operators to fulfill project requirements and maintaining operations by enforcing project policies and procedures. The Civil Engineer will provide engineering information by responding to inquiries and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements. This includes studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future changes, and advising management on necessary actions. Additionally, the engineer will maintain a project database by writing computer programs, entering data, and performing backups, contributing to the overall team effort by achieving related results as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Completes construction projects by preparing engineering design and documents and confirming specifications.
  • Designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.
  • Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.
  • Determines project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs.
  • Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
  • Produces engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules.
  • Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, inspecting construction site, and verifying calculations and placements.
  • Fulfills project requirements by training and guiding operators.
  • Maintains operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures.
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains project database by writing computer programs, entering data, and completing backups.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering, architectural engineering, or architecture
