About the position

AECOM is seeking talented Civil Engineers for our growing Northern California practice to be seated in our Oakland, CA office as part of the Buildings + Places practice. The role involves oversight and management of various project tasks, development of technical concepts and designs, and preparation of documents including reports, studies, plans, specifications, and estimates for diverse projects such as Healthcare facilities, Federal, Science + Tech, High Education, Sports + Rec, Transportation, or Infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage various project tasks.
  • Develop technical concepts and designs.
  • Prepare documents including reports, studies, plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Support the planning, design, evaluation, and review of various tasks in support of project execution.
  • Work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
  • Work on complex or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems using modifications of standard procedures.
  • Carry out assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Identify discrepancies in results.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and make autonomous decisions guided by policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid US Driver's License required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State (CA Preferred) or able to register for PE exam within 1 year.
  • Demonstrated experience working on site/civil design projects.
  • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications).
  • 4+ years of experience in civil engineering and building development projects.
  • Experience with permitting site/land development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams in a deadline intensive environment.
  • Experience working in large and complex projects/programs.
  • Experience with construction phase services for site/civil projects.
