About the position

The Civil Engineer position at HDR, Inc. involves supporting the development of construction drawings and other CAD/BIM products, primarily using Bentley's Open Roads Designer software. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and adherence to project design standards, particularly for Federal Coastal Storm Risk Management Projects. The engineer will perform complex assignments, make significant design decisions, and contribute to the overall success of civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Use Bentley's Open Roads Designer software to support development of construction drawings or other CAD/BIM products under the direction of more experienced team members.
• Follow project design standards and requirements associated with Federal Coastal Storm Risk Management Project.
• Be capable of multi-discipline coordination with geotechnical, hydraulic, structural and coastal engineers.
• Perform quantity calculations.
• Prepare specifications and contract documents.
• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in general Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
• Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering such as InRoads, Siteworks, Hecras, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years' experience being responsible for civil design teams
• Experience in Bentley or AutoDesk drafting platforms and associated vertical applications such as Geopak, Inroads, OpenRoads Designer, or Civil 3D
• Experience with Civil Engineering design (including management of survey and utility data, coordination with GIS data sources, creation of surfaces, performance of earthwork grading, or performance of quantity take-offs)
• Good technical writing skills.
