Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team in Cranford, NJ. As a leading power engineering consultant firm, ECI provides a wide range of services including engineering, system planning, technical consultation, project management, and construction services to electric utilities and energy developers across the U.S. The successful candidate will focus on structural engineering and site design for substations and power delivery facilities, contributing to projects that span system voltages from 4.16 kV to 765 kV. In the realm of structural engineering, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for developing design criteria, as well as designing structures, foundations, and buildings. This includes working with standard shape steel structures, tubular steel structures, fire walls, and related facilities. The foundation design will involve various types such as drilled pier, shallow/pad, and spread footing foundations. The ideal candidate should be adept at learning and applying various software design packages, including Visual Analysis, STAAD.Pro, Risa, LPILE, MFAD, and CAISSON. The site (civil) engineering responsibilities will encompass the development of design criteria, grading and drainage design, and access road design, which includes both paved and unpaved sections. The engineer will also be tasked with vehicle maneuvering modeling, haul road analysis, and the specification and design of retaining walls, perimeter walls, fences, and gates. Additionally, the role requires the ability to interpret hydrology studies and produce water storm drawing designs, with ACAD Civil 3D experience being preferred. Depending on the candidate's experience and interests, there may be opportunities to perform project management functions, which include scoping, budgeting, scheduling, directing a team of less experienced engineers and designers, project monitoring and control, client interface, and project reporting.
