About the position

As a Civil Engineer, you will oversee the design, development, and implementation of various civil engineering projects, focusing on underground utilities, drainage, grading, and foundational systems. This role involves collaborating with multiple stakeholders, managing project scopes, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Owner's Representative on projects from concept through construction.
  • Manage the design and development of contract documents with in-house and outside resources.
  • Develop concepts and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Attend site visits and participate in problem-solving during all project phases.
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and statutes.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop project scope including design, planning, and code compliance.
  • Resolve design issues and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Partner with internal teams to maintain and enforce design guidelines and standards.
  • Research Record Drawings Archives and perform field work to assess utilities infrastructure.
  • Review new and existing design drawings and calculations independently.
  • Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor requests for information.
  • Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations for compliance with specifications.
  • Perform reviews of existing infrastructure and propose upgrades or replacements.
  • Provide consulting on codes and Resort guidelines related to civil structures.
  • Prepare plans for grading, storm drain, water distribution, sewage, and other underground utilities.
  • Review and prepare calculations and reports for water quality management plans.
  • Design with a focus on constructability, efficiency, and long-term maintainability.
  • Develop system models of underground utilities.
  • Expedite the receipt of sample submittals for final design approval.
  • Participate in weekly design coordination meetings and prioritize items to minimize schedule impacts.
  • Assist Project and Design Managers in resolving design compliance issues.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering design, including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Experience with design, procurement, and construction support.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D), Revit, Adobe Acrobat, or Bluebeam Revu.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with clients, employees, and management.
  • Self-starting collaborator with the ability to bring concepts into physical reality.
  • Working knowledge of standards and codes applicable to civil utility systems.
  • Experience with data management and editing in Esri ArcGIS.
