Leidos is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team, providing essential support to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Infrastructure Engineering Center. This position is based in Chicago, IL, and involves a combination of telework and travel, with 25% of the work being remote and 25% requiring travel. The Civil Engineer will play a critical role in the development and execution of engineering projects that are vital to the FAA's infrastructure initiatives. In this role, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support to the Infrastructure Engineering Center, ensuring the successful completion of project engineering packages. This includes developing site-specific project plans and specifications for solicitation and contracting, performing site surveys to gather essential project data, and researching relevant standards, construction codes, and ordinances. The engineer will analyze issues identified during site surveys and provide recommendations and solutions to address these challenges. The Civil Engineer will compile and complete various project documents, including scopes of work, project transmittals, drawing and specification lists, and operational risk management checklists. They will also furnish necessary information for the preparation of Purchase Requests (PR) and Change Proposals for assigned projects, as well as assess engineering impacts on environmental and safety compliance programs. The role requires the engineer to provide technical support throughout all phases of new construction and renovation projects, including evaluating shop drawings and design proposals, and ensuring adherence to contract documents. Additionally, the Civil Engineer will participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections and Contractor Acceptance Inspections, providing recommended resolutions for engineering-related items. They will conduct engineering studies to evaluate feasibility and cost versus benefit, and provide technical input to the Government Technical Interpreter for planning, budgeting, and coordinating engineering project development. The engineer will also be responsible for developing project drawings in accordance with FAA standards and guidelines.
