About the position

Stantec GS, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead various civil design projects and contribute to the Built Infrastructure practice group. This role involves consulting with clients, supervising multi-discipline teams, and applying advanced engineering methods to ensure project success. The position can be performed remotely or from one of the U.S. offices, emphasizing a commitment to safety, quality, and ethics in engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to determine project plans and schedules
  • Serve as technical advisor on assigned projects and issues of moderate complexity
  • Maintain positive client relationships
  • Prepare studies and reports
  • Directly supervise multi-discipline employees and subconsultants involved in the project
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws
  • Evaluate, select, and apply advanced design & engineering methods with responsibility for project assignments including programming, design development, and coordination and production of construction documents
  • Conduct engineering design of grading and proper drainage, stormwater management facilities, utility systems, erosion and sedimentation control calculations, and hydrology and hydraulics calculations
  • Evaluate and integrate engineering systems and implement code, accessibility, and zoning analyses

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • 5-8 years' experience in Civil Engineering consulting at increased levels of responsibility, including project management
  • PE or EIT registration
  • Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment
  • Strong client satisfaction track record
  • Demonstrated commitment and focus on Quality
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and complete tasks on multiple projects, with experience developing MS Project schedules
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership
  • Ability to use extensive working knowledge of all relevant procedures necessary to complete contract documents to obtain permits
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Superior leadership and management skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to operate standard Civil Engineering software/design tools for routine system modeling, design calculation, analysis and interpretation
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software (WaterCAD / SewerCAD / Autodesk SSA)
  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS)
  • Experience working in Autodesk Revit
