About the position

The Civil Engineer position at Rimkus Consulting Group involves providing forensic consulting services that require expertise in civil engineering. The role focuses on assessing and determining the causes of structural failures, building envelope failures, and construction defects for various clients, including insurance and legal entities. The engineer will manage multiple projects, conduct investigations, prepare reports, and provide expert testimony when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigations and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
• Conduct forensic assignments based on a defined scope of work and budget agreed upon with the client.
• Investigate construction defects or structural failures, including gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and reviewing documentation.
• Prepare oral and written reports detailing findings, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
• Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other experts to produce timely client reports.
• Ensure safety and due diligence during project completion.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or higher.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required in the state of employment or ability to obtain it quickly.
• 2-10+ years of relevant experience.
• Project Management and/or Field Investigation experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of computer-assisted engineering and design software.
• Experience in writing scopes-of-work, budget estimates, and technical documents.
