About the position

As a Civil Engineer at MBP, you will play a crucial role in the construction management sector, particularly focusing on transportation projects. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and practical experience, with a preference for candidates who have between 5 to 15 years of transportation construction experience. Your primary responsibilities will include on-site construction representation for clients, preparation of essential project documentation, cost estimating, scheduling, and conducting thorough plan reviews. You will also be tasked with researching project records and evaluating change orders and requests for extensions of time. Your ability to independently apply engineering techniques and analyze problems will be vital in ensuring the quality and timeliness of project deliverables, even amidst fluctuating workloads. In addition to your main duties, you will receive training and participate in various company activities, which may include administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. This role not only demands technical knowledge but also requires strong communication skills, as you will be expected to effectively represent MBP both internally and externally. You will need to maintain a high level of integrity in all interpersonal interactions, ensuring that the company's values are upheld in every project you undertake.

Responsibilities

  • Project assignments including on-site construction representation of client.
  • Preparation of project documentation, cost estimating, scheduling, and plan review.
  • Research of records related to projects.
  • Review project records, schedules, and as-built construction to evaluate change orders and requests for extension of time.
  • Independently apply techniques and analyze for problems and methods.
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables with periodic fluctuations in workload.
  • Receive training and participate in company activities.
  • Perform administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 5 to 15 years of transportation construction experience preferred.
  • PE required.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles of construction management and project controls.
  • Knowledge of critical path method scheduling, cost estimating, project budgeting, delay analysis, constructibility and design review, inspections, and quantity take-offs.
  • Proficiency in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar and composition rules.
  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam; additional capabilities in P6 preferred, and CADD desired.
  • Ability to work within a project team and execute tasks independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports/correspondence related to the work.
