About the position
The Civil Engineer position at the Department of the Interior's Office of Renewable Energy Programs involves reviewing and evaluating engineering analyses and reports for renewable energy facilities on the Outer Continental Shelf. The role requires compliance with applicable laws and regulations, participation in public meetings, and providing technical expertise for policy formulation. This is a term position not to exceed three years, with potential for extension, and offers telework options based on agency policy.
Responsibilities
- Review renewable energy lessees' and operators' submittals of plans, reports, and applications for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Evaluate engineering analyses and reports for proposed renewable energy facilities using geotechnical engineering principles.
- Participate in public meetings and stakeholder outreach events, providing technical expertise as needed.
- Initiate technology assessment projects and serve as subject matter expert on technology studies and research projects.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
- Specialized experience in reviewing geotechnical survey data and engineering analyses related to renewable energy projects.
