About the position

Ulteig is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their civil teams, focusing on innovative design solutions for transportation projects. The role involves managing multiple projects, developing client relationships, and supporting business development efforts. The ideal candidate will execute complex assignments with minimal supervision and work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply current engineering techniques and procedures to complete tasks.
  • Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects.
  • Maintain records, construction quantities, checklists, daily reports, and documentation for construction administration projects.
  • Perform work in both office and field settings.
  • Coordinate on-site materials testing.
  • Develop complete and accurate plans, specifications, and observation reports.
  • Recommend alterations to improve quality in development criteria and design features.
  • Guide engineering technicians and design engineers closely.
  • Check design computations performed by the internal civil design team.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence regarding project direction.
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management.
  • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
  • Collaborate with business and engineering staff across multiple offices and technical disciplines.
  • Attend meetings with clients to assist with relationships, business development, and proposal development.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Civil Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required, preferably in North Dakota or obtainable within three months.
  • Minimum of 4 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills.
  • Experience in CAD Software Applications such as C3D or Bentley MicroStation preferred.
  • Experience creating Horizontal and Vertical Alignments, Signing and Pavement Marking, SWPPP, TCP, and Typical Sections.
  • Working knowledge of NDDOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Experience performing summary calculations and cost estimates.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
