About the position

The Civil Engineer position at Geosyntec involves leading and contributing to innovative civil engineering and land development projects in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on collaboration with environmental, water resources, and geotechnical services, addressing both private and public sector challenges, including greenfields and brownfields redevelopment, landfills, and water containment systems. The position emphasizes technical project work, business development, and mentoring early-career engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and/or reviewing technical drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and analyses for civil design, site development, and stormwater management.
  • Completion or review of civil and stormwater management design packages.
  • Providing construction engineering support to large civil-design projects.
  • Completing construction quality assurance (CQA) tasks for large civil-design projects.
  • Providing oversight and project management of multi-disciplinary projects and assistance in managing Client Programs.
  • Developing and maintaining strong collaborative internal and external relationships.
  • Mentoring and developing early career engineers.
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring early-career engineers.
  • Preparing task orders and proposals including scope of work, cost/fee estimates, schedule, presentations, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related discipline (required).
  • Minimum 5 years (7+ preferred) of progressive experience in consulting industry or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Managing complex interdisciplinary projects with private and public sector clients (required).
  • Business development experience (required).
  • Technical leadership for civil design, landfill design, and site layout (required).
  • Experience performing civil design and site grading (required).
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills (required).
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (preferred).
  • Professional registration (i.e., PE) (preferred).
  • Experience performing hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and designing stormwater infrastructure (preferred).
  • Relevant engineering software experience (e.g., AutoCAD Civil3D, SWMM, HydroCAD, and ArcGIS) (preferred).
