About the position

Stantec Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team in Honolulu, HI. As a Civil Engineer, you will perform various types of civil designs, lead projects, and play an integral part in our growing Built Infrastructure practice group. This role can be performed remotely or based out of one of our U.S. offices. In this position, you will consult with clients to determine project plans and schedules, serving as a technical advisor on assigned projects and issues of moderate complexity. Maintaining positive client relationships is crucial, as is the preparation of studies and reports. You will directly supervise multi-discipline employees and subconsultants involved in the project, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Your responsibilities will also include evaluating, selecting, and applying advanced design and engineering methods with responsibility for project assignments, including programming, design development, and coordination and production of construction documents. You will conduct engineering design for grading and proper drainage, stormwater management facilities, utility systems, erosion and sedimentation control calculations, and hydrology and hydraulics calculations and studies. Additionally, you will evaluate and integrate engineering systems and implement code, accessibility, and zoning analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering design of grading and proper drainage, stormwater management facilities and stormwater conveyance systems, utility systems, including but not limited to sanitary sewer and water, erosion and sedimentation control calculations and best management practices, hydrology and hydraulics calculations and studies
  • Evaluate and integrate engineering systems and implement code, accessibility, and zoning analyses

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience in civil design and project management
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and tools

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with environmental engineering projects
  • Familiarity with local regulations and codes in Hawaii
  • Project management certification
