About the position

VHB is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team to support our land development projects. This position can be based out of our Washington, D.C. or Tysons, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our past and present clients include commercial, office, residential, industrial, and hospitality developers; Higher education, healthcare and K thru 12 Institutional entities; municipal and local government agencies, federal agencies including NAVFAC, State DOT's, and private interests throughout the eastern United States. As a Civil Engineer, you will work within a team of professionals in developing engineering plans and specifications for a variety of land development, water resource, transportation, and general civil engineering projects. You will assist in the preparation of land entitlement permitting documents, prepare Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Contract Documentation, and engage in technical and design report writing. Additionally, you will attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss engineering design/permitting issues with them. You will also assist with activities during the Construction Administration phase of projects and help manage small size projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing engineering plans and specifications for a variety of land development, water resource, transportation, and general civil engineering projects.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 1-3 years of professional site/civil engineering experience
  • EIT/EI preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience/proficiency with one or more of the following programs: AutoCAD, HydroCAD, StormCAD, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience with GIS Systems is a plus.
