About the position

Moody Engineering is seeking a growth-minded Director of Transportation to lead their expanding roadway team in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves overseeing project management, business development, and technical mentoring, while ensuring high-quality engineering design for transportation projects. The position offers flexible working hours and a diverse project portfolio, making it an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Project management planning, monitoring, and implementation
  • Lead roadway business development and client interface
  • Lead proposal preparation including development of scope, schedule, and fee negotiation
  • Manage multiple project teams and collaborate with Columbus and Cleveland offices
  • Lead technical review, QA/QC, and technical mentoring program
  • Oversee engineering design for roadway or site development projects
  • Perform roadway grading and drainage, utility design, parking lot design, storm sewer design, and stormwater management calculations
  • Provide advice and creativity to resolve potential problems/deficiencies quickly
  • Coordinate execution of projects with staff, clients, and project team members

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer License (PE) for the state of Ohio required
  • BSCE from an ABET accredited College or University required
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering
  • 7+ years of experience leading Transportation Projects
  • 5+ years of experience with Bentley/Microstation/Open Roads
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Infrastructure Suite
  • 5+ years of experience working on State, County, and City Transportation Projects
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with roadway documents and permitting preferred with City of Columbus/Cleveland
  • Experience working with ODOT Districts 6 and 12
  • Experience working with Cuyahoga and Franklin County
  • Ability to win transportation work and deliver exceptional results to clients
