About the position
The Civil Engineering Group Manager (Transportation) will lead the transportation engineering team, overseeing projects from conception to completion. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering and project management, focusing on transportation infrastructure while ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the transportation engineering group, overseeing project teams and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Develop and review construction documents and plans for highway and roadway projects.
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and permitting requirements are met.
- Utilize CADD software to create and refine design plans, ensuring geometric design meets industry standards.
- Manage project budgets and timelines, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Conduct site assessments and prepare reports on grading, drainage, and other project-related issues.
- Ensure adherence to DOT and ITE standards in all transportation projects.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; PE license is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Strong people management skills.
- Strong expertise in transportation design, including geometric design and roadway construction.
- Proficient in CADD software, with experience in Inroads and Microstation preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
- Knowledge of permitting processes, right-of-way acquisition, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Familiarity with drainage design, street lighting, and grading practices.
