About the position

RS&H, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Aviation team in Lafayette, LA. This internship offers a unique opportunity to explore your potential and apply your diverse skills in a collaborative and team-oriented environment. As an intern, you will serve as a trusted advisor to both large and small airports within the aviation industry, engaging in various service areas including airfields, buildings, facility planning, environmental planning, and environmental stewardship & resiliency. This role is designed to help you define and master challenges while advancing professionally and building strong, lasting relationships with experienced professionals in the field. The Aviation Engineering Intern will work closely with top engineering associates, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the Infrastructure Engineering Industry. You will assist the Aviation Group on a variety of conventional and design-build projects that combine innovative design with a strong knowledge of technical standards. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with roadway design and water resources staff, providing insight into the work of other departments and enhancing your overall learning experience. This internship is an excellent opportunity for current students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET accredited university. You will be mentored by experienced professionals and will have the chance to contribute to meaningful projects that exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
• Prepare and revise engineering design drawings
• Collect, prepare, and analyze data
• Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
• Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Requirements

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET accredited university with at least 1 year remaining until program completion
• 2.5 GPA or above
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment

Nice-to-haves

• Prior internship or related experience
• Experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience or exposure to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars
• Specific interest in Aviation Infrastructure
