About the position

SCS Engineers is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 in Winchester, VA. This internship aims to provide students with valuable technical and engineering business experience through diverse projects, allowing them to explore their career paths. Interns will engage in environmental monitoring, assessment, and remediation projects, gaining significant field experience while working 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Record data during field work, including soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater or surface water data, and visual observations.
• Collect samples from hazardous and non-hazardous sites, including soil, air, surface water, and groundwater.
• Prepare environmental monitoring reports, including tabulated data, charts, graphs, sketches, and statistical analysis.
• Prepare compliance reports for stormwater and groundwater.
• Participate in health and safety training as required.
• Assist with civil engineering design projects, including preparation of plan documents and specifications.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, graduating by June 2027.
• Willingness to live in the Winchester, VA area for Summer 2025 (housing allowance not provided).
• Solid technical and computer skills, with AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Previous leadership experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Great attention to detail and solid judgment.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
• Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office required.
