About the position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Public Infrastructure - Transportation team in Fort Worth, TX. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will be involved in various technical tasks that will enhance your understanding of civil engineering principles and practices. You will engage in project research, fieldwork, observation, and preliminary design calculations, all while taking personal responsibility for the quality of the tasks you perform. In this role, you will utilize CAD software to prepare and check working drawings, details, layouts, and estimates. You will also perform routine analysis to ensure the accuracy of data and work products. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of exhibits, plot plans, lot fits, or other similar tasks relevant to your discipline. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the civil engineering field, allowing you to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting while contributing to meaningful projects that impact communities. Responsibilities

  • Prepares preliminary analysis on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Conducts project research, field work, observation, and preliminary design calculations.
  • Takes personal responsibility for the quality of tasks performed.
  • Uses CAD to prepare and check working drawings, details, layouts, and estimates.
  • Performs routine analysis to check the accuracy of data and work products.
  • Assists in the preparation of exhibits, plot plans, lot fits, or other similar tasks by discipline.

Requirements

  • Currently working towards completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Demonstrates willingness to accept new challenges and learn specialized field.
  • Growing knowledge of profession as demonstrated by involvement in related professional organizations and professional development programs.
  • Basic knowledge of the firm's policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of software required for position.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to follow general directions and work with limited independence on basic computations.
