About the position

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering students for internship opportunities in their Deerfield, Illinois office. This role involves utilizing technical software to support civil engineering projects, contributing to design and analysis, and collaborating with project managers and other disciplines. Interns will gain hands-on experience with various engineering software and learn about industry regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical software programs to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for clients.
  • Contribute to pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects.
  • Solve complex problems and assist project managers in project execution.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to produce clients' visions for the built environment.
  • Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn's and clients' practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Learn one or more software programs specific to engineering disciplines such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro, and/or GIS.

Requirements

  • In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
