About the position

The Civil Engineering Lead at HDR, Inc. is a strategic role responsible for leading and managing multi-discipline analysis and design of complex structures within the dam and civil works program in Southern California. This position involves project management, mentoring a team of civil engineers, and executing civil design analysis for various critical structures, including dams and storm water management systems. The role emphasizes high-quality service delivery and technological development in the field of civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi-discipline analysis and design of complex structures within HDR's dam and civil works program.
• Provide project management and mentoring to a team of civil engineers and designers.
• Conduct project design development including planning, scheduling, and preparation of final design analysis.
• Execute civil design analysis for projects involving dams, spillways, outlet works, and storm water management systems.
• Support project delivery activities through high-quality services and technological development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering projects involving water management, structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines.
• Experience with civil/structural engineering software and static and dynamic analyses for concrete dams and hydraulic structures.

Nice-to-haves

• Master of Science or higher in Engineering (Civil or Structural) or equivalent level of experience.
• Willingness to obtain California PE registration.
• Experience with State Dam Safety, US Bureau of Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers, and/or FERC regulated projects and standards.
