About the position

Kimley-Horn's White Plains, New York office is seeking a Civil Engineering Project Manager with over 10 years of experience to join their Water/Wastewater and Utilities team. This position is not remote and offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects within a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and water treatment systems. Additionally, the role involves water/wastewater distribution planning, master planning, and treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions. The Project Manager will manage project tasks, oversee project design and permitting, coordinate construction activities, and provide regular communication and guidance to less experienced staff. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and external clients is essential to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects. The candidate will maintain a high degree of quality in the plans produced, check the work of others, and create work plans that adhere to the budget set by the client while demonstrating strong project management knowledge. Regular attendance at meetings and communication with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies is required to fulfill any regulations and requirements related to projects. The Project Manager will also monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that all aspects of the project are on track. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building meaningful internal and external professional relationships and enjoys working closely with industry-leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Designing water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and water treatment systems.
  • Managing project tasks, project design and permitting, and construction coordination.
  • Providing regular communication and guidance with less experienced staff.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external clients to ensure successful project completion.
  • Maintaining a high degree of quality in plans and checking the work of others.
  • Creating work plans and adhering to client budgets while demonstrating strong project management knowledge.
  • Attending meetings and communicating with clients, government entities, and regulatory agencies to fulfill project regulations and requirements.
  • Monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
  • Relevant municipal engineering experience including designing pump stations, pipelines, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience performing hydraulic modeling using programs such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and a sense of urgency to produce high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.
