About the position

The Civil Engineering Supervisor at Amentum is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing multi-craft construction union craftsmen across various electrical and mechanical disciplines. This position reports directly to a Civil Engineering Superintendent and is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The supervisor will lead teams involved in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of systems including high and low voltage electrical distribution systems, substations, and emergency power generators. The role requires a hands-on approach to managing complex projects and ensuring that all work meets the critical timelines set by customers. In this position, the supervisor will coordinate with other Civil Engineering Supervisors, Superintendents, Project Officers, and various engineering and design teams. The responsibilities include planning and directing new construction and renovation projects, inspecting job sites regularly, and participating in project design reviews to provide insights on constructability and maintainability. The supervisor will also be responsible for managing the daily activities of assigned shops, scheduling work orders, and ensuring that all personnel are up-to-date with their certifications and training requirements. The role demands excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as the supervisor will interact with foremen, union stewards, division managers, and government points of contact. Additionally, the supervisor will handle administrative tasks such as reviewing and approving timesheets, leave requests, and purchase requests for materials and equipment. This position is essential for maintaining the operational integrity of the facilities and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of high and low voltage electrical distribution systems and substations.
  • Oversee the operation of prime power plants and emergency power generators.
  • Coordinate manpower and resources to execute projects to meet customer timelines.
  • Interact with foremen, union stewards, division managers, and government points of contact.
  • Direct daily activities and workload of assigned shops, scheduling and executing work orders and PMIs.
  • Plan and direct new construction and renovations, inspecting job sites routinely.
  • Participate in project design reviews and provide feedback on constructability and maintainability.
  • Ensure personnel remain current with certification, licensing, and training requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
  • Review, approve, and correct timesheets and approve leave requests and training reimbursements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and at least 8 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • Associates degree or vocational/technical training is desirable.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written communication skills and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Experience managing and leading work crews in construction work and facility operations and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications is necessary.
  • Must qualify for and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver's license.

Nice-to-haves
