As a Civil Engineering Team Lead, you will take on a leadership role within the engineering team, providing engineering and design services to our clients. You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and other disciplines to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Your responsibilities will include training and mentoring junior staff, managing the workload for the team, and leading the engineering and production team through the planning and design phases of civil engineering projects. In this position, you will receive broad guidance from senior management regarding key objectives and critical issues. You will manage people and processes to ensure effective execution of projects, review work produced by staff for quality assurance, and assist with marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing ones. You will also be responsible for client interaction, including preparing new contract proposals and attending project meetings. Your role will require you to apply your knowledge and expertise to resolve crucial issues, manage competing demands, and establish priorities for your staff. You will be expected to drive the profitability and growth of projects while maintaining a commitment to quality and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering team to provide design services to clients.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients, and other disciplines to ensure project delivery on schedule and budget.
  • Train and mentor junior staff and manage workload for the team.
  • Assist with marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance existing relationships.
  • Execute project contracts and develop internal staff.
  • Develop processes to achieve operational excellence while growing the region and office.
  • Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommend changes.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations.
  • Drive profitability and growth of projects.
  • Manage client interactions, including preparation of contract proposals and change orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Ten or more years of engineering or related land development experience.
  • Minimum of five years managing multiple complex large scale land development projects.
  • Experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, and pump stations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience serving clients in land development projects in relevant counties/municipalities.
  • Proven marketing and business development skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop an engineering and project management team.
