About the position

The Civil Engineering Technician at CriticalRiver Inc. is responsible for designing and implementing civil engineering solutions specifically for Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring compliance with California state regulations and industry standards while collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver effective engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement civil engineering solutions for Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects.
  • Assess strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
  • Use design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs.
  • Set design specifications by computing grade requirements, ADA access, traffic flow rates, and similar parameters.
  • Plan projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, and survey reports.
  • Draft and present reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and traffic studies.
  • Collaborate with surveyors to establish installations or reference points, grades, and elevations.
  • Design concrete pad foundations for EV chargers and other structural elements on EV Charging Sites.
  • Design stormwater runoff mitigation solutions and ADA compliant parking arrangements.
  • Consult with project stakeholders regarding engineering requirements for construction and modifications.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure design specifications and safety standards are met.

Requirements

  • Possess valid CA professional engineer civil stamp (or obtain within 6 months of hire date).
  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • 3 years of experience in the EV industry, including familiarity with EV charger hardware and site design.
  • Proficiency in site planning, grading, utilities design, feasibility studies, and cost estimating.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, StormCAD, and other design software.
  • Understanding of utility infrastructure, traffic control, and safety regulations related to projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
