As part of our water/wastewater group, the successful candidate will provide essential engineering support for a variety of municipal projects. These projects will involve the design and rehabilitation of collection and conveyance systems, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, and more. This role is integral to our mission of upgrading aging infrastructure and delivering innovative solutions that ensure safe and reliable water delivery. In this position, you will conduct research related to engineering policies and practices, perform calculations to support planning and design objectives, and prepare comprehensive engineering reports. You will also develop descriptive charts, figures, maps, and tables to aid in project documentation. Your responsibilities will include supporting design analysis through quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques, drafting construction documents, and assisting with cost-benefit analyses. Fieldwork and construction observation will also be part of your duties, along with contributing to project documentation through writing assignments such as memos and reports. Quality control and assurance will be key components of your role, as will preparing permit applications and supporting materials. Responsibilities

  • Conduct research related to engineering policies and practices.
  • Conduct calculations to support planning and design objectives, including hydrologic and/or hydraulic analyses.
  • Prepare engineering reports.
  • Develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices.
  • Support design analysis through the application of quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques.
  • Prepare and draft construction documents (plans and specifications).
  • Support cost-benefit analysis.
  • Perform field work or construction observation.
  • Perform writing assignments to contribute to project documentation and deliverables such as memos and reports.
  • Assist with quality control and assurance.
  • Prepare permit applications and support materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or a related field).
  • 0-2 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • EIT Certification.
  • Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Related site/civil or municipal experience is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with elements of the design-bid-build process including engineering analysis, permitting, development of construction documents (plans and specifications), cost estimating, and construction administration and observation.
  • Ability to lead engineering designs independently and work with others for support.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred).
  • Knowledge of Hydrologic and Hydraulic design software programs (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, etc.).
  • Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
