About the position

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of Energy Transition projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States, with a focus on Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on various activities in support of environmental permitting and design projects for several Arcadis clients, including electrical transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy projects. This position requires experience with federal, state, and local environmental permitting, as well as support associated with regulatory agency coordination and design/permit development and compliance. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse, necessitating a candidate who can work collaboratively with a team of specialists while balancing varying priorities and tasks to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deliverable deadlines. As a Consultant with Arcadis, you will have the opportunity to make a difference by collaborating with staff and contributing to a diverse array of projects. You will be a key member driving innovation and building strong technical communities within the Energy Transition practice. This role offers a flexible working environment, allowing for remote work and office presence based on specific task demands. You will apply your technical knowledge to work with local, national, and global technical and client teams to provide high-quality deliverables that support planning, design, and permitting for major utility and key Arcadis clients. Your responsibilities will include leading the development of engineering designs for permitting or construction purposes, including design drawings, technical specifications, presentations, cost estimates, proposals, land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations, and earthwork site design. You will also develop technical documents and reports, work plans, memoranda, and other environmental documents to support design/permitting activities, which may include preparing regulatory permit application packages and coordinating work schedules with colleagues, vendors, and subcontractors. Additionally, you will provide project management support to manage project financials and assist in growing new and existing client relationships through the delivery of quality work and data.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on environmental permitting and design projects.
  • Lead the development of engineering designs for permitting or construction purposes, including design drawings and technical specifications.
  • Develop technical documents and reports to support design/permitting activities.
  • Prepare regulatory permit application packages and facilitate meetings with stakeholders.
  • Provide project management support to manage project financials and client relationships.
  • Maintain electronic file systems and record keeping using SharePoint and other cloud-based platforms.
  • Conduct field assignments, including construction inspections and client meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferably in Pennsylvania or willingness to obtain via reciprocity).
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in the civil/environmental field.
  • Experienced with Pennsylvania Chapter 102 technical requirements and permitting.
  • Experienced with Highway Occupancy Permitting with local townships and county agencies.
  • Experience leading civil or environmental projects, including land development and stormwater permitting design teams.
  • Fluent with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software.
