About the position

The Civil, Environmental or Coastal Engineering Project Manager at Applied Technology and Management (ATM), a Geosyntec Company, is responsible for managing waterfront development and coastal engineering projects. This role combines technical engineering expertise with business acumen, allowing the manager to address complex environmental challenges while ensuring successful project delivery. The position involves planning, design, inspection, and client interaction, providing a comprehensive opportunity to apply engineering knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking the planning, analysis, permitting, design, and inspection of waterfront development projects including marinas, shoreline protection, beaches, dredging, and related projects.
  • Generating and recognizing cost-effective and constructible technical solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Writing feasibility studies, technical reports, and construction specifications.
  • Managing the production of engineering plans and drawings.
  • Performing engineering calculations and critical reviews of technical reports.
  • Inspecting and supervising onsite works during construction phases of marinas and waterfront development projects.
  • Managing and controlling project budgets, programs, resources, and quality of production.
  • Attending and conducting meetings with clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Developing proposals in response to RFPs, including build-up of project budgets, programs, and scopes of work.
  • Interfacing and communicating with clients and prospective clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in coastal/ocean engineering, civil engineering, coastal science, or closely related field (required).
  • At least 5 years of experience (7+ years preferred) in the engineering field; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Outstanding communication skills, with a specific focus on business/technical writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil 3D)/GIS.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or related field (preferred).
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, Professional Engineer (PE) (preferred).
  • General knowledge of surveying and surveying principles (preferred).
  • Valid passport (or eligibility to obtain) and ability/willingness to travel internationally to support waterfront project work (preferred).
  • Boating experience (preferred).
