About the position

As a Project Engineer, you will be part of a team that has been a premier provider of environmental and infrastructure services for over sixty years. The company is dedicated to evolving and adapting to the changing world, focusing on solving critical environmental issues for both public and private sector clients. Your role will involve supporting a variety of civil and environmental engineering projects, including groundwater extraction and treatment system design, construction and operations support, groundwater and soil remediation investigation and design, and wastewater treatment design and construction. In this position, you will coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure that the engineering scope is completed within the required schedule and budget. Your responsibilities will include preparing engineering design drawings and specifications, writing technical reports, conducting field investigations and site reconnaissance, managing project permitting, and coordinating with regulatory agencies. You will also be involved in engineering cost estimating and analysis, performing engineering design calculations, providing bid and award services, reviewing RFIs and submittals, and offering construction phase engineering services. Additionally, you will support environmental projects through environmental sampling fieldwork, data management, subcontractor oversight, and reporting. You will prepare project scopes of work and budget estimates, coordinate with your team on the preparation of design documents, and work closely with internal QA/QC reviewers, financial analysts, and administrative assistants. This position may require approximately 25% travel for site inspections and meetings with client site representatives and construction contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure completion of engineering scope within schedule and budget.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Illinois / Michigan - Licensed P.E. certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for interaction with multi-disciplinary staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent organization and operations planning skills.
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, and finisher.
  • Proficient in using typical business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Adobe, etc.).
