Responsibilities

  • Prepares quantity takeoffs for material orders, etc.
  • Liaises with trade contractors, consultants, designers, engineers.
  • Manages trade partner work and provides day-to-day direction.
  • Mentors and leads inspections and orientations, identifies hazards and corrections, and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Attends daily safety meetings and leads toolbox talks.
  • Assists with change management, including to collect and interpret information. Ensures required scope changes are implemented in field.
  • Monitors project schedules and three-week lookaheads.
  • Monitors weekly productivities.
  • Updates drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinates with superintendent on workforce planning.
  • Maintains project document control and procedures. Supports project engineers and/or superintendents to manage trade contractors, including requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, changes, and billings.
  • Tracks time sheets and orders materials and equipment.
  • Conducts complex quality inspections.
  • Manages materials and equipment inventory.
  • Assists with engineering on self-performed scopes. Performs drafting for self-perform scope, as required.
  • Participates in the supervision of self-perform scopes, including determining crew sizes, labor tracking, and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
  • Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns.
  • Identifies issues on-site or in defined work scopes.
  • Coordinates third-party inspections and site reviews.
  • Participates in creating, implementing, and monitoring quality plan, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Tracks cost and quantity.
  • Identifies complex engineering needs.
  • Develop and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of construction processes and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in construction or engineering.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
