About the position

The Civil Field Engineer at CME Associates, Inc. is responsible for conducting field investigations, performing special inspections, and executing material testing. This role involves project management, engineering calculations, and the timely preparation of reports, ensuring adherence to technical standards and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of engineering functions under the direction of a Senior Professional Engineer
• Prepare engineering studies and reports
• Coordinate projects and manage Special Inspection and Construction Materials Testing work
• Conduct special inspections, various field inspections, and materials testing as needed (soils, concrete, masonry, steel)
• Perform test boring/test pit observations, laboratory analysis, and preparation of geotechnical calculations and reports
• Supervise and support project team as necessary
• Implement Quality Assurance and ensure adherence to technical standards and applicable codes
• Engage in continuing education to develop skills and maintain certifications

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certificate
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Functional knowledge of industry practices and regulations, NY State Building Code, and engineering standards
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, and clients through clear communication and proactive progress reporting
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects with schedules and budgets
• Familiarity with construction materials, procedures, and documents is a plus
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
