About the position

DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Civil Field Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role is primarily focused on supporting the construction of utility-scale solar PV plants ranging from 10 to 300MW. The position requires extensive travel, with 95% of the time spent on-site at various project locations. Candidates can reside anywhere but must be prepared to travel to project sites as necessary. This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship. The Field Engineering role is crucial in supporting both self-performed and contracted construction projects across the nation. The engineer will play a vital role in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and in compliance with all relevant design specifications, laws, codes, and requirements. This is achieved through effective communication, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving, which are essential for delivering superior value to our customers. Key responsibilities include coordinating inspections with local, county, and state authorities, conducting First Article Inspections (FAIs), maintaining construction and engineering documentation, managing Requests for Information (RFIs), and holding subcontractors accountable for their scopes of work. The engineer will also track civil quantities, review construction material submittals, assist in pre-construction planning, maintain stormwater documentation, and proactively manage project constraints. Additionally, the role involves operating drones to capture construction progress and issues, further enhancing project oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inspections and facilitate discussions with local, county, and state Authorities Having Jurisdictions (AHJs)
  • Create and conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) to verify that sites have been constructed to design specifications and standards
  • Document and maintain construction and engineering drawings, including but not limited to red-line sets
  • Compose and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) between construction teams, engineers, vendors, and long-term project owners
  • Hold subcontractors and self-perform teams accountable to their Scopes of Work
  • Manage and track civil quantities (linear footage, cubic footage, etc.)
  • Review construction material submittals
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications, data sheets and other pre-construction planning
  • Maintain storm water documentation logs and orchestrate respective remediation
  • Proactively manage project constraints through collaboration with project management, engineering, and construction personnel
  • Operate drones to capture construction progress/issues

Requirements

  • Civil experience on large scale projects (utility scale solar, wind, etc.)
  • Experience working against deadlines
  • Experience creating reports and compiling data
  • Experience working in a team setting

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in a technical discipline
  • Experience operating drones or possessing an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) license
  • Experience in a Field Engineering, Project Engineering, or Construction Management role in the Renewables or Oil & Energy fields
  • Experience with Civil in utility scale solar
  • Experience with SWPPP requirements
  • Experience with challenging terrain
  • Experience communicating in multi-lingual environments
