About the position

Anchor QEA is seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to support existing clients and expand its environmental, civil, and water resources engineering practice in western North Carolina and the Southeast. The role involves leading tasks under a project manager, performing technical work related to stormwater and water resources, and managing contractor oversight. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or oversee technical analyses for projects including stormwater management, grading design, and water resources management.
  • Work with specialists and subconsultants related to geotechnical, remediation, and restoration services.
  • Develop and review design documents, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and opinions of probable cost.
  • Prepare and review written reports, technical studies, and permit applications.
  • Perform task management including team assignments, contractor management, and project completion.
  • Develop construction planning and observation documentation while providing construction oversight.
  • Visit project sites for assessments and oversee construction for approximately 20-30% of the time.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or similar field.
  • 6-12 years of experience in related engineering field.
  • PE licensure in North Carolina is desired, or on track to become licensed within 1 year.
  • Experience managing projects/tasks and interfacing with clients.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling.
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously across disciplines.
