Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater team in our Austin, TX office. This position is designed for recent graduates or those who are about to graduate, providing an opportunity to work alongside licensed Civil Engineers while gaining hands-on experience in public infrastructure projects. The Civil Graduate Engineer will be involved in various tasks including technical calculations, plan and specification production, and assisting in project management tasks. The role is crucial for those pursuing a Professional Engineering license, requiring organization, self-motivation, and the ability to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within budget. As part of the project team, the Civil Graduate Engineer will assist in the design of public infrastructure such as water and sanitary sewer lines, roadways, water plants, lift stations, and wastewater treatment facilities. Responsibilities will include preparing construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents, as well as engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations. The engineer will also prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D and Bluebeam, and coordinate with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential for developing calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, friendly, and approachable, demonstrating strong communication skills with team members and clients. They should possess competent technical skills necessary to complete engineering tasks and be proactive in pursuing design solutions. A detail-oriented mindset is important, along with the flexibility to see the bigger picture.
