About the position

Merrick & Company is seeking a college senior or graduate school Civil Engineering student for a paid summer student internship for Summer 2025 at our Greenwood Village, Colorado office. This internship is designed for students actively pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with a Structural emphasis. The summer internship will run approximately from mid-May through mid-August 2025, providing a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on technical experience in the field of civil engineering. During the internship, the selected candidate will be exposed to a variety of civil engineering tasks, including but not limited to storm drainage, site design, roadway design, and utility design. The intern will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, interface with clients and contractors, and adhere to project schedules and budget commitments. The role requires the ability to work independently, possess strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities. Attendance and punctuality are critical expectations for this position. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, contributing to actual client projects while receiving coaching and mentoring from experienced professionals. The internship will also include weekly training meetings, providing insights into the company’s leadership and operations, including a special session titled "Meet the CEO and President."

Responsibilities

  • Gain technical experience in the field of civil engineering.
  • Work on storm drainage, site, roadway, and utility design projects.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Interface with clients and contractors.
  • Follow project schedules and budget commitments.
  • Work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Attend weekly training meetings and participate in coaching and mentoring sessions.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
