About the position

Atwood Law, P.C., L.L.O. is seeking a highly motivated and organized full-time Civil Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in the areas of civil litigation, specifically medical malpractice, personal injury litigation, and domestic relations. The role involves assisting in all phases of the litigation process and requires a keen eye for detail, adaptability, and a strong interest in the law.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting and collaborating with attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, including case management, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Drafting legal documents including discovery, motions, pleadings, records subpoenas, demand letters, etc.
  • Manage case files, ensuring all documentation and materials are organized and up to date.
  • Verbally communicating with clients, attorneys, medical providers, insurance carriers, expert and other witnesses, etc.
  • Maintain a calendar of important deadlines and ensure they are met.
  • Meeting with clients.
  • Preparing cases for hearings and trials.
  • Attending trials to assist attorneys.
  • Preparing Excel spreadsheets for wage and damage calculations, exhibit lists, witness lists, and medical bill itemizations.
  • Drafting correspondence to clients, attorneys, medical providers and insurance carriers.
  • Gathering, analyzing, and summarizing documents, including medical records, medical bills, and wage/damages information.
  • Summarizing medical records and deposition transcripts.

Requirements

  • Previous law firm experience or paralegal certification preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or medical background preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A high level of adaptability and a strong desire to learn and grow in your role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in litigation, particularly civil litigation is preferred but not necessary.
