About the position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Civil or Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2025! This internship offers a unique opportunity to work under the direction of a degreed engineer, performing a variety of basic to moderately-difficult engineering support assignments. The role requires a fundamental knowledge of design and drafting standards, practices, and techniques. As an intern, you will take engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, and formalize them into working drawings. The assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline. In this position, you will utilize a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings that include basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, and isometrics from rough sketches and general engineering and design information. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with codes and company policies by utilizing technical manuals and directives. Familiarity with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME will be essential. Additionally, you will compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience and exposure to the engineering field, allowing you to grow your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches and general engineering information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with codes and company policies by utilizing technical manuals and directives.
  • Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
  • Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university.
  • Must have completed at least one year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.).
  • PC literacy and a working knowledge of CAD are required.
  • A working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments is necessary.
