About the position

The Civil or Environmental Engineer Intern position at Verdantas offers an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in environmental consulting and engineering. This internship is designed for individuals pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, providing them with practical exposure to fieldwork, data analysis, and technical report preparation. The role emphasizes collaboration with a dynamic team of professionals dedicated to sustainable project outcomes across various sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with fieldwork (e.g., sampling of various media, site inspections, and in a support role for field engineers/geologists/scientists)
  • Researching, collecting, and entering data, and applying technical principles to assist in interpreting and analyzing data
  • Assisting in preparing engineering-related calculations, designs, plans, and conceptual models
  • Performing preliminary human health and ecological risk calculations and modeling
  • Assisting with environmental assessments
  • Preparing technical reports

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Relevant courses related to principles of civil or environmental engineering, geology, or similar
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Experience in ArcGIS and AutoCAD
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Able to conduct some fieldwork with occasional heavy lifting
  • Must be able to write effectively and articulate outcomes to clients and team members
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Nice-to-haves

  • Affiliation and/or certifications with professional associations and networking capabilities
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
  • Internship or coop experience
